American Airways will start each day, nonstop service from Phoenix to Monterrey, Mexico in January.

“Mexico is Phoenix’s primary commerce and tourism associate which makes air service to Monterrey more and more vital for our native economic system,” Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego stated.

“As American Airways expands its worldwide service, Phoenix advantages from elevated connectivity to rising world markets and sought-after leisure locations.”

Monterrey is Mexico’s third-largest metropolis, the capital of the state of Nuevo Leon and is a enterprise hub for northern Mexico. Flights on an Embraer 175 are scheduled to start Jan. 10.

There has not been a nonstop flight between Phoenix and Monterrey since 2004.

The each day flight from Sky Harbor Airport will depart Phoenix at 7:50 p.m. and arrive in Monterrey at 11 p.m. The return flight will depart Monterrey at 8 a.m. and arrive in Phoenix at 9:40 a.m. The plane has capability for 76 passengers.
